HOW TO FEED THE DONKEYS

  • When you open the door of the container, you will notice that two donkeys will go immediately in there. These are Tica and Juanito. You can get them out by standing very close behind their back and push them out. Yell a bit and they will go out. If not, leave them there. They will go out when you start feeding.

  • First get the hay. Inside the container there’s a sign that shows which hay you should use. Every donkey needs to eat 2 Kg of hay so when you know that a bale weights 30/35 Kg you can think of how many hay you should feed. For 37 donkeys we use 2 bales of hay. You can put the bale in a wheel barrel or use the dolly to move the bale.

  • Drop some hay on different spots in the area around the container (see picture). This will distract the donkeys from the other food and people that drive the road can see there are donkeys.
  • Don’t forget to feed the donkeys in the stables. Give them one slice hay per donkey.

The pebbles
  • One donkey needs 1 kg of cookies.  A bag of cookies contains 22,63 kg (50lbs) so you can think of how many cookies you have to give. With 37 donkeys it was one and a half bag.

  • Feed the cookies in the feeding trough and some on the hay you dropped on the floor outside. You can carry the whole bag or you can fill buckets that you empty outside.

  • Don’t forget to feed the donkeys in the stables. One scoop cookies per donkey.
