TICA - WATTY

Tica lived with people at home. They had her since she was very young and when she became older they couldn’t handle her behavior anymore. She was not used to other donkeys and needed a lot of attention. When she came to the sanctuary she became best friends with our little Juanito. Together they are always messing around and especially Tica as she can open almost all the gates and the container when you don’t lock it. During feeding time they will jump in the container and stay there until you really start pushing!

Identification mark: Tica is a bit fat, same color as One Eye and Juanito is always somewhere around her.

Tio Mexico has had a stroke; his ‘laughing face’, which is normally the showing of teeth to be better able to smell, is not functioning as it should and therefore it looks as if he’s laughing at you. Tio is very curious by nature, but one should take extra care when approaching him, as he has become blind in one eye.

Identification mark: Because of his stroke, Tio Mexico’s face is not symmetric and his fur is curly.

Tutu was born in the sanctuary. Her mother is Surfi.

Identification mark: Tutu is almost always somewhere around her mother Surfi. Tutu is the smaller one.

Watty is the oldest donkey in the sanctuary. Probably born around 1960-1965. He was found in the main street of San Nicolaas where some drug addicts were abusing him.

Watty was involved with a murder. His owner had a farm and was shot by a thief that tried to steal vegetables while he was sitting on Watty.

Identification mark: Watty has a wart on his nose and white stripes on his neck.
