KODAK - ROLAND

Kodak arrived at the sanctuary on May 3, 2004 after a telephone call had alerted us. A concerned lady had noticed that Kodak was standing on three legs and it appeared that he had an enormous wound on one leg, caused by screwworm. During his first four weeks at the sanctuary poor Kodak could not eat because of the pain. Fortunately he’s doing much better now! Because he used to stand on three legs like a tripod, we called him Kodak.

Identification mark: Kodak is light brown, almost white. He still has a little wound on his hind leg.

Kromoor (Crooked Ear) had a fight with some other males for a beautiful female donkey. We don’t know if he won, but in the fight he lost a piece of his ear. Since that day he has a crooked ear. Crooked Ear is Kromoor in Dutch.

Identification mark: it is obvious....

This friendly donkey jumped the fence when one of our females was in heat. One of the volunteers noticed that there was a lot of chaos going in the group. All the donkeys were running and braying. After a little while she noticed that Meteoor was the reason. She pushed him out, because he was not injured and in good health. A couple of hours later, he was back and so was the chaos! He jumped the fence again! Meteoor, named after a famous jumping horse, is in the sanctuary since that day.

Identification mark: Meteoor has “eyebrows” above his eyes

Pepper was born in the sanctuary in 1998. His mother was Gaudi who died in 2001. Pepper has one son: Boem Boem.

Identification mark: Pepper is the darkest adult donkey we have. We call this black.

Identification mark: Pica’s legs are deformed and he has a crooked ear.

Pica came in after a phone call. This donkey probably had a traffic accident. Two weeks after he arrived in the sanctuary, people came to visit us and they told us that they knew Pica and that he was living like this for almost four years in Camay. Pica is separated from the other donkeys because he can’t defend himself.

Roland was found in Mon Pos (close to Ayo Rock formations and the Sanctuary).

Identification mark: Roland looks like Scar but his fur is fluffier, he looks like Jake but he is fatter and he looks like Ban Ban but he is taller. Roland is very shy.
