Chippie lived with people since he
was young. When his behavior wasn’t acceptable anymore, he came to
the sanctuary where he was the leader of the group until Chocolat
took over.
Identification mark:
Chippie is thinner than the other white donkeys. His fur is also
smoother. His left ear has a vague grey spot on it and he has a
white spot on his forehead.

| Chocolat
is one of
the donkeys that chose the sanctuary as a place to live by himself.
He jumped the fence because one of the ladies was in heat. After he
was castrated he was welcome to stay in the group and this resulted
in fights with Chippie, the leader of the group. And what Sonic and
Tio Mexico couldn’t win, Chocolat did. He won the battle and is
now the new leader of the group until another donkey takes
over.
Identification mark:
Chocolat is brown and some people say that his head looks like a
bulls head because there’s a lot of hair on his forehead.

Identification
mark: Cowboy looks like Alto Vista but his head is more
masculine. |
Cowboy was so unfortunate to have
stepped into an air filter with his hind leg. After a phone call
from people that saw him, it took us three weeks before we were able
to locate him and cut the burden off of him, which took several
hours. With the assistance of people from Texas (hence the name
Cowboy), this wild donkey is now running around the sanctuary free
and very happy. The filter that was on his leg is now used to put the
“carrot money” in.

Een Oog (One Eye)
was born in the sanctuary. Her mother is Sassy. One eye walked into
a Hubada tree and now she is blind at one eye. The eye she is blind
in is white. One Eye is Eenoog in Dutch. One eye has a son called
Boem Boem, he is always somewhere around his mother but this will
change after her new baby is born.
Identification mark:
One eye has one eye that is white. This is her blind eye.

Eva was born in the
sanctuary. This pretty lady was born in July 21th, 2003.
She’s the aunt and half sister of Jolly Jumper. She was born in
the middle of the group so she and her mother needed some help
protecting themselves against the other donkeys. Because of the help
of a Dutch family they were safely transported to the coral. The
daughter of the family was named Eva so this is where she got her
name.
Identification mark:
Eva has a very small and elegant head and most of the time she is
somewhere around her mother Sassy.

| Frits is a traumatized donkey. He
lived with a man who really loved animals but just wasn’t capable
taking care of them. Frits came in with four other donkeys. He first
lived in Bringamosa but because he had an ear infection he came to
live in Santa Lucia. We don’t trust him with people so he lives in
one of the corrals. |
Identification mark: Frits
is light brown and has a long curly fur.
