On August 10 a new donkey arrived at the Sanctuary. He is a very good looking and muscular donkey.  Diana Tucci and her friend Wendy Donenfeld decided to adopt him.  As he had just arrived at the Sanctuary he had not been named yet so Diana decided to name him after her boyfriend.  Her boyfriend's name is Evan.  We are not sure if Diana's boyfriend will appreciate this, but he should be honored to have such a good looking animal named after him.

The Delesios (Carolyn and John) from Pittsburgh have always believed that donkeys are very special and also most misunderstood of all animals and therefore abused.

They visited us on August 9, 2006 and chose Pica for adoption.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pica on Friday, October 26, 2007.  Pica was having his hooves trimmed and apparently he became scared and jumped up.  When he landed he broke his front right leg (the one that had been broken before).  The vet was called and came to the Sanctuary.  Unfortunately there was nothing he could do as the bone was through the skin and it was his bad leg so he was put down.

Janet McLaughlin and Tom Petrocel from Massachusetts are real animal lovers.  They have adopted a dog in the States.  They found out about the Sanctuary on the internet and came to visit us.  Janet decided to adopt Surfi and Tom chose Negrita.  They will come visit us again on their next trip to Aruba .

A couple from Aruba (?) had adopted Bally in the past.

Unfortunately Bally is no longer with us so they decided to adopt Spot, one of our newer residents

Caitlyn Hopkins and Kris Rochelle are from Illinois .

Caitlyn's mother comes to the Sanctuary everytime she is in Aruba .  Caitlyn and Kris fell in love with Kromoor also known as Crooked Ear.  Kromoor followed Caitlyn everywhere so she had to adopt him for all his loyalty to her.

we are waiting for a picture with Kris and Kromoor, in the meanwhile we show Kromoor's art!

CaribEx (prints the roadmap of Aruba for Avis Car Rental) has decided to support a treasure of Aruba by adopting one of our donkeys.  Ban Ban was the lucky one chosen.  Ban Ban is one of the original donkeys at the Sanctuary and one of the few that children can ride.  If Avis every runs out of cars to rent they can come talk to Ban Ban.

October 2006 - October 2007

On August 13th, Monique van der Hoek paid a visit to the Sanctuary. Monique is from Aruba. She fell in love with Pica because he is a survivor. Pica is our donkey who survived being hit by a car years ago and has two deformed legs. He is a very sweet donkey.

Monique will come back to make a picture with Pica.

Adoption August 13, 2007 - 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pica on Friday, October 26, 2007.  Pica was having his hooves trimmed and apparently he became scared and jumped up.  When he landed he broke his front right leg (the one that had been broken before).  The vet was called and came to the Sanctuary.  Unfortunately there was nothing he could do as the bone was through the skin and it was his bad leg so he was put down.

Jeremy, Melony and Elisabeth Lobbrecht came to the Sanctuary with their family on Sunday, October 1, 2006.  Jeremy has a school project.  In order for him to get points for his school grade he must either make a speech or write an essay about a subject, the donkeys.  The three children learned a lot about the donkeys by helping to feed them and to clean up the sanctuary.  They had so much fun they decided to also adopt a donkey.  They chose Negrita one of the younger donkeys.

October 2, 2006 - 2007

Karen Ravert and Paula Almond from Virginia adopted Bambi as every donkey needs to have parents.  Bambi is our young donkey that has a birth defect.  He has curvature of the spine but is a very friendly donkey and hangs out with Lucky.

Adoption September 10, 2007 - 2008

Bill von Hassel came to renew his adoption of Whiskas, only to find out he had left the Sanctuary to go back on the street.  He decided to adopt Ginger as she was friendly and did not run away when he came to her..
