Dr. Gloria Brogan from Selden NY saw Ban Ban when he was at Certified Mega Mall for Animal Day and decided to adopt him.  She is a true animal lover and takes in sick animals.  She also volunteers as a neuro surgeon to help vets in her area.  She is going to stop at the Sanctuary and check out Bambi, who has a birth defect, to see if she can help correct his crooked spine. We are very grateful for her loving care of animals.

Animal day 2006 - 2007 the adoption is renewed till 2008 Thank you!

Carolann Gentile from Pennsylvania was touched by the stories of the rescues of our donkeys.  Negrita greeted her at the gate and really enjoyed the apples they brought so Carolann adopted her.

Eugenia Hypolite from OPPA (a union for the elderly) came to the Sanctuary on April 27th with a group.  She decided to adopt Cowboy.  His name comes from people from Dallas Texas who help us capture him and free him from a air filter that was stuck to one of his legs.

Adoption runs April 27, 2005 till 2007

alto vista

More donkey lovers paid visits to the Sanctuary in June.  Faith Mangiameli adopted Alto VistaSarah and Maureen Mangiameli adopted Chippie.  Chippie was for former leader of our group at St. Lucia

Grandpa Henry Dubero came with his two grandsons Marley and Robin Dubero to visit the sanctuary. Marley and Robin live in Delft, the Netherlands. Grandpa gave them the adoption of a donkey as a present. Isn't this a nice gesture from granddad?

They choose Kromoor, he was very interesting with his crooked ear. Kromoor of course was his own charming self!

Tom  surprised his wife, Jolanda Poley, with a birthday gift of an adoption.  She chose Tutu.  They have a cat named after Bishop Tutu and now she also has a donkey named Tutu.  What a wonderful birthday present.

Adoption from February 14, 2008 - 2009

Blanca was adopted on Sunday, May 29th, 2005 by Kayla, Nathan, Joann and Marcel Solagnier.  The family comes to the Sanctuary every month, as
Kayla, the little girl in the picture, asks if they can go see the donkeys.  She is the initiator of the outing to the Sanctuary.  They are very interested in all the stories of the donkeys and remember a lot of things that happened to Blackie, Browney and Pica.  The parents are enthusiastic about the donkeys and Marcel, the father, decided on the adoption of Blanca.

Dayanna, Barbara and Margaret visit the Sanctuary every year when they are here.  Dayanna loves the sanctuary so much she volunteers when she is here.

They have adopted Sasha in the past and this year Sasha had a baby, Sky.  They have decided to adopt Sky.  Also Dayanna was allowed to pick the name for the baby.

Stef

November 4th was a sad day for everyone who loved Grandpa (and who didn't?) He was found dead in the bushes. We think he was about 40 years old and died from old age.

The Neuteboom's, Hetty and Erik, from The Hague in the Netherlands, visited the Sanctuary last May.  The sanctuary is one of their favorite places to visit on Aruba.  They appreciate all the work the volunteers do for the donkeys and after hearing the story of Sombrero decided to adopt him.  Sombrero is a baby donkey the rangers found in the National Park, in the area of Sombre, without his mother.  He is about one week old and when found had cactus needles all over him and one in his eye.  The vet, Ricardo Contreras, cannot remove the  needle in his eye as it is in very deep.  Hopefully it
will work its way out so the vet can remove it.
Sombrero is staying with the Vice President of the
Foundation.  He will not drink from a bottle but like
to drink from a bowl.  He also likes to chew on her
desk.
Adoption from June 10, 2005 - 2008
Jim and Phyllis Ellafrits are from Georgia and adopt a donkey every year when they are in Aruba.  This year they decided to let the grandchildren, Emilia, Elise and Daniel, of their good friends Tom and Terry Silvestri from Quebec Canada, choose the donkey to adopt.  The children picked one of our babies, Sky, who is very cute and getting friendlier each day.

February 2005 - 2009

Nan Ward from Pennsylvania came to the Sanctuary on February 7th.  She loved the sanctuary and the work we do.  She decided to adopt Cowboy.  Cowboy got his name from a tourist who helped us catch him.  The tourist was from Texas therefore he was called Cowboy.  Cowboy had stepped into an old air filter and it had to be cut off his hoof.

The adoption is to be continued till 2009! Thank you very much....
