Lucky
was adopted from March 28, 2004 - 2005. She’s staying in our
second donkey sanctuary in Bringamosa. When Lucky came to us, she was
pregnant with Bastiaan.
Lucky's adoption has
been extended for one year till 2007.
|
| Mini
Dushi was born in Sta. Lucia and she’s Lily’s daughter. Mini
Dushi is an adult mini donkey, living in Bringamosa, just like Lucky.
She suffers from arthritis and is often in pain. The injections, which
she receives twice a year, help a lot. Now she’s okay again.
Mini Dushi is also
adopted for another year until 2007.

The Doorenbos',
Jacqueline and Huib, are new neighbors to the donkey sanctuary.
They love animals and have two street dogs named after two of
the 101 Dalmatians, Patch and Pongo. They love living next to
the Sanctuary and wanted to know if we had a donkey named after a
Disney character. Of course, we have Bambi so they deiced
to adopt him on an ongoing basis.

Alexandra
Vegso and her parents Beth and Randy are from Ontario
Canada and
visited the sanctuary twice in one week. Alexandra wants to
become a vet when she finishes school. She chose to adopt Mini
because she has to stay in the corral and looks sad. Mini has
pain as she has degenerative arthritis.

Jose
Palomino, the husband of a volunteer and now a once a month
volunteer himself, as his wife is pregnant, has decided to adopt
Negrita. This was a very logical choice as he was on duty May
29th when Negrita came
into the world.
It is very nice to have such enthousiastic volunteers!

| Adelaida
Peraza is so fond of animals that she once had a small zoo. The
only animal that she didn’t have was….a donkey.
Her husband also loves animals and they want their son Rodrigo
Peraza jr. to grow up knowing the happiness which being with
animals brings, and how to care for them.
For this reason they have adopted Pepper for him.
And not just satisfied with their adoption, Adelaida now wants
to participate as a volunteer in our sanctuary.

Kees
Goutiziers, who lives in the Netherlands and also
in Palm Beach Aruba decided to adopt one of our
donkeys. We had a new donkey at the sanctuary who had lost her
baby to a car accident, and Kees decided she needed a name and some
love. He chose to name her after his company which is Nariz.
Nariz is a lovely donkey and has adjusted to the loss of her baby and
the sanctuary very well.
Adoption from September 14, 2007

| Ms.
Anning H. Smith Sr.
from
New Jersey wished
to adopt one of our Aruban donkeys and name him after her
husband:
her eye was taken by Mikey, who will now be known as
‘Mikey Egon’.
Mikey hasn’t been with us for long but already knows how
pleasant it is to hang around the porch – sociable and sometimes
delicious!
The
adoption is renewed with another year till march 2009.
Thank you!

Leo
de Kok and Marianne Boon,
from Holland, are friends of one of our volunteers; in fact
they are setting up a business together here on Aruba.
They wanted to support our foundation (and thereby all the
donkeys on Aruba) and have adopted Rason.

Matsy van
Oers, a long time volunteer on weekends, fell in love with one of
our new additions, Storm. Storm came to the Sanctuary on a sad
day when our new
baby, Luna, had to be taken to the vet where she died a day later.
Matsy found great comfort in having Storm to help console her.

Roland |
Tica
|
| The
owner of The Salt and Pepper Restaurant wanted to help support
our Foundation through helping with prizes for the 10th
anniversary Photo Contest.
And not only that but at the same time adopt one of our
donkeys….after visiting Santa Lucia with his girlfriend, the result
was not only the adoption of Roland but also of Tica (by
Pauline’s Apartments). |
 |
Eva
has been adopted by Susie and Phil Hague. They brought a
lot of carrots to the sanctuary and Susie gave almost every donkey a
carrot. Eva took a liking to Phil and would not leave him alone.
She was so persuasive they decided to adopt her.
September 21, 2005 - 2007 The adoption is continued
|
| The
Philipsens, from the Netherlands, paid a visit to the Sanctuary
and fell in love with all the donkeys. They like to support
small groups so they know where their money is spent. They
decided to adopt a donkey and chose Surfi. She is a very
quiet and polite donkey.

We are waiting for a picture with the
Schladers.... |
Heather
Schlader, from Illinois, and her family stopped by the Sanctuary.
They liked all the donkeys and had a hard time choosing one.
Finally, Bono our adorable and very friendly young donkey won.
Bono was born in July and he is a very manly little donkey who loves
people.

Sunday, March
30th was a speciaL day at the Sanctuary. Our volunteers Matsy
& Annete arrived to find a very nice surprise.
Sassy had given birth to a very cute baby. We thought Sassy was
pregnant last July but finally decided she was just fat. Boy,
did she fool us. The new baby's name is Sunday Dream.
Sunday is a very small boy and is full of energy. Doug and
Robin Riechel from New York love animals as they take care of
seven dogs. They fell in love with Sunday and adopted him.
