Reina Geerman and Carl Giel came to the Sanctuary on animal day.  They live on the island.  Once they saw Bambi they fell in love with him and had to adopt him. Bambi is a very young wild donkey that was born with a birth defect.  However, he is a very good looking
young male and everyone loves him.

October 4, 2006- 2007

Margareth Irausquin came to visit the sanctuary and felt so sad for Bambi. She returned and adopted him. Bambi is a very happy but handicapped donkey born in the beginning of 2006. As soon as he is a little bit stronger we can try to let him go into the group.

The Crosslands from North Carolina visited the santuary this past summer with one of their daughters.

Their daughter is a lawyer in Virginia and has always loved animals, especially lost and sick ones.  As a

surprise birthday gift Mom and Dad adopted Sasha for her.

The grandparents of Taryn, Kylie and Brynn Ordovensky of Columbia , Maryland decide to adopt Bambi for them.  Bambi meets the children's desire to adopt an animal in need.  Bambi has a birth defect of a deformed spine.  He is a very friendly and frisky little donkey. After 10 months locked up for his own savety, he is out in the group and donkey Lucky adopted him and protects him wherever he goes.

December 7, 2007 - December 7, 2008 The adoption is renewed! Thank you!

Upon arriving at the Donkey Sanctuary, Bob Haag (pictured with Boem Boem) and Kathy Singer of Chattanooga, TN. USA, who were visiting Kathy's brother and sister-in-law, the O'Connells, were so impressed with what was being done for the Donkeys of Aruba they were compelled to process adoption papers for Boem Boem in the name of Bob's grandson, Cole Anderson of Hilltown, PA. USA. for a Christmas present. As you can see from the picture attached, Cole was so very delighted that words just escaped him.

The Lovink family paid a visit to the sanctuary on
their bikes.  Daughter Annemarie Bennis really enjoyed being around our donkeys.  When the family was back in Holland, mother Janneke wanted to adopt a donkey for Annemarie for her birthday.  She chose Blackie a very beautiful and friendly donkey as she had a picture of Annemarie with him.

The adoption runs from January 1, 2007 - 2008

Jolly Jumper                                          Sassy

Brad Croes and Ellen Aartsen live on Aruba and wanted to support our foundation.  Both wanted to adopt a donkey and said we could make the choice of donkeys. Our donkey Sassy is the grandmother of Jolly Jumper, so this would make a nice couple.  Soon, Brad and Ellen plan to stop by the sanctuary to meet their adopted donkeys and take some pictures.

Adoption runs January 2007 - January 2008

Jenny & Marcel ter Steege decided to adopt Picasso.  Picasso is getting more and more accepted in the group. He used to fight with all the dominant donkeys. He wanted to be the leader. No change. Chocolate is still in charge and will be as far as we can tell.

Adoption runs from November 2007 till November 2008

Kristen Edwards of Delaware, had a very short visit at the sanctuary as her friends are not animal lovers like she is.  In spite of the short visit she decided she had to adopt one of our sweet donkeys and picked Cowboy.  Cowboy is the donkey who had a car filter one his leg.  We use the filter as a donation box at the sanctuary.
The sister of the Foundation's Vice-President, Lillian Panjer- Eldering  was on Aruba for several weeks.  As she is always hearing about our donkeys she decided to adopt one for her family.  Her choice was Kosh Kosh.  Kosh Kosh will be a very well known donkey as a book has been written about him and is available at the Sanctuary in three different languages.
Jolanda Velthuis and Wim Clarenbeek are from Holland.  They came to Aruba to visit their very good friend Dees who takes care of nine donkeys at her home.  They loved the donkeys and had to adopt one.  They chose Mon Petit a young donkey who is very handsome.

adoption runs January 27 2007 - 2008

Deanna and Rose from Massachusetts visited the
Sanctuary twice in May as they fell in love with the
donkeys.  Deanna and Rose decided to adopt a
donkey as a birthday present for their friend Kathy Murphy.
Kathy has a soft spot in her heart for Crooked Ear,
also known as Kromoor.  They gave him a nick name: Crooky!
Happy Birthday Kathy.

June 15, 2007 - June 15, 2008

On August 27th, 2007 the family Vermeule from Rotterdam came to the Sanctuary and fell in love with all the donkeys.  Storm really made a deep impression on the
family as she loves people and would follow them around the corral so they decided to adopt her.

Adoption August 27, 2007-2008

In August, Francois van der Staar and Brenda Geurts, from the Netherlands adopted Lucky.  Lucky used to live in Bringamosa but decided Sta. Lucia was nicer  and wandered over.  She and Bambi are great friends and can always be found together.

Adoption August 28, 2007 - 2008
The Keyclub of Colegio Arubano has been a great supporter of the Sanctuary for many years.  Their adoptee is Boem Boem.  This year 15 members of the Keyclub helped as volunteers at our family day.  Every year on Animal Day they renew their adoption.  Thank you not only for your support but also for all you help on Family Day.  They helped make it a great success.

During all the activities we forgot to make a picture with the keyclub members. Sorry!
